I used the GROW approach to mentor my kid during this coaching session. Goal, Reality, Options, and Will are the four phases that make up the GROW paradigm (Wu et al., 2020). In order to assist Noah in articulating his objectives, evaluating his current situation, considering possibilities for change, and committing to certain actions, each step entailed asking focused questions.
We were able to have an honest and open conversation that encouraged genuine communication and accountability because of our close relationship. While closed-ended questions helped Noah focus and clarify his responses, open-ended questions pushed him to think more widely.
In order to guarantee relevance and clarity, each question had to be customized while using the GROW model. One of the difficulties was having to explain some of the questions because of Noah’s age and comprehension limitations. Notwithstanding these difficulties, the workshop was entertaining and brought to light our common goals and the diversions we encounter (Aluthge Chandana et al., 2020).
